Santa's Workshop at Wickham Park (Manchester)

28th Annual Santa's Workshop
A free event sponsored by Wickham Park. Children of all ages enjoy visits with Santa and his elves and refreshments with Mrs. Claus. Santa's Workshop provides a chance for children to enjoy an uncommercialized Christmas experience. Hours are 3-6pm weekdays and 1-5pm on weekends. Come and create a new family tradition.

Stories by the Fireside (Hartford)

Open Saturday and Sunday and throughout the week enjoy a Stories by the Fireside: A Reader’s Room exhibit at the Mark Twain House & Museum in Hartford. This family-friendly exhibit and reading room runs through January 1 and features a replica of the house in LEGO bricks. They provide an area for children to read, draw and play with Lego building bricks.

A new tradition has begun this year at Shore Line Trolley Museum. Illuminated night trolley rides on weekend nights aboard a cozy, heated trolley will get you into the holiday spirit.

Lantern Light Tour (Mystic)

A New England holiday tradition, be sure not to miss the Lantern Light Tour at Mystic Seaport. A new story every year! Step back in time at Mystic Seaport for a magical re-creation of Christmas Eve 1876. Stroll along the streets of Greenmanville, meet the townspeople and hear how the hope and love of family healed this town hurt by war. You may even get to see St. Nick. Tours begin at 5 p.m. and leave every 15 minutes on weekends of December 11-12, 18-20 and 26-27.

Holiday Gilbert Train Exhibit (Hamden)




Go to the Eli Whitney Museum and see classic toy trains produced by New Haven’s A.C. Gilbert Company that still run beautifully after 60 years (exhibit will run through January 10). Right after World War II, the A. C. Gilbert Company introduced its American Flyer Trains. Gilbert trains are known for their lively movements, carefully crafted sound, bright lights and the cedar scent of their smoke. These trains are only unpacked and displayed only once a year.
